Michael Jackson Art Surges in Value

What's the hottest artwork trend for 2009? Michael Jackson art, commemorating the King of Pop's formidable contribution to the music industry, is gracing homes and dorm rooms across the United States and the world.

Michael Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, and his legendary status as one of the world's foremost entertainers has everyone wanting a commemorative piece of artwork. Jackson himself loved contemporary and classic art. TMZ reports that one of Michael Jackson's final financial transactions was the purchase of a piece depicting the Wicked Witch of the West called "The Donut Queen." In the days before his death, Jackson also purchased a painting called Play Ball; both works were created by an artist called Nelson De La Nuez.

Popular canvases, statues, and other forms of artwork depicting Michael himself are being snapped up by collectors, commanding thousands to tens of thousands in the art market. One popular portrait painting of Michael Jackson art by Andy Warhol sold for $1 million in the August after Jackson's death.

The good news is that getting your own Michael Jackson art doesn't have to cost millions - or even a penny
