Shawne Merriman arrested for battery and false imprisonment of "Tila Tequila"

As this is being written the story emerges of how San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been accused of choking his girlfriend, reality TV star Tila "Tequila" Nguyen and has been arrested. It seems Tila called the police around 3.45am on Sunday and has alleged that the 2005 AFC rookie of the year choked her and restrained her from leaving his residence. She signed a citizens arrest and Merriman was arrested by deputies.

FoxSports is reporting that Merriman has been charged with battery and false imprisonment. The hulking linebacker was named to the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons having recorded 39 and a half sacks. However, he also got a four game suspension in 2006 after violation of the leagues steroid policy
