New Venom Movie : Spiderman 3's failure Creates Spin-Off

With Spiderman 3 failing miserably to introduce Venom as the opponent he was in the comics, Sony is planning to release a spin-off with the villain at the center of his own story, separate from the Spiderman franchise. The character Venom deserved to at least have the spotlight as the only villain in Spiderman 3, and Sony is now attempting to make up for it.

Topher Grace originally played Eddie Brock and Venom in Spiderman 3, but Sony is worried about whether not Grace can foot the bill for a "tentpole" picture. With Sony hiring several "A-List" writers, Topher Grace playing Venom is the only worry in creating a successful spin-off. There's no doubt in my mind as to whether or not the special effects will be nothing short of amazing, but choosing the right character in a Venom movie to replace Grace could make or break the film.

Basing an entire movie on an arch enemy of Spiderman may be tough to sell, but it will at least redeem the character to what he's worth in the comics.
